This stream otherwise has a very nice population of Heptagenia sulphurea or yellow may fly. This is my favorite mayfly. It's so bright yellow in this stream that you can just stand there and watch them for a long time. We didn't have any net by then but I've always wanted one. Let's see what happens this coming season.

Have fun monitoring your stream,
M.O.The Jassid Manhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06403155174896714086noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5459904654078487715.post-73745332195111056292012-02-19T13:40:23.371+00:002012-02-19T13:40:23.371+00:00Matt

I wish morte anglers would take an interest and contribute.
The hepta/baetis imbalance is to be expected this time of year as the dominant mature species at the moment is the large dark olive, and the summer ecdyonurids/heptagenias will still be very small won't show up in samples too readily. You probably will not find any blue winged olive nymphs until May.

MMatthew Easthamhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06251652487123519104noreply@blogger.com
